Overview

We at Ramchander Nath Foundation and Ojas Art, have been involved in thought provoking programs involving marginalized societies, and through Expressions at Tihar, we aim to give a real glimpse of prison to mainstream society through the eyes and first-hand experience of participating artists. Since 2007, we have been providing art-training within the prison premises, for the longterm our aim is to help inmates explore different career opportunities related to the arts.

Art also helps inmates vent their unexpressed emotions, positively, on canvas. Prisons mirror society and much to our dismay, inmates and prisons are as much a part of society as any other institution. They are an ideological institutionalized apparatus, like any other: school, church or hospital. It’s established to reclaim the citizen from crimes through punitive indoctrination of discipline.

What is the definition of criminal?

Isn’t mainstream society harboring more criminals?
